REHEARSAL ANNOUNCEMENT 102219

1.  I hope you all took some time this week to review your parts, and to solidify any shaky areas. 2. There are 2 Chorale concerts in the next couple of weeks:       Friday October 25th, at 5:30 pm in DCPC, and Friday November 8th, at 7:30 pm in Duke Family Performance Hall.  Both concerts  are free and open to the public.  If you are going to the concert on 10/25, watch out for little ghosts and goblins--it's the Davidson Halloween parade (parking may be a challenge as well). 3.  A reminder about November rehearsals:  Tuesday nights as usual through November 19th, a rehearsal Sunday, November 24, 6-9 pm in DFPH, NO rehearsal on November 26th, and dress  rehearsal for  the Gala Sunday , December 1, 6-10 pm in DFPH. Dress rehearsal is mandatory unless excused by Chris, so I hope you've made appropriate travel arrangements.  The Gala performances are Dec 2 & 3, 7:30 pm, call time 6:30 pm.   4. The Messiah Sing-Along is Monday, December 9, at 7 pm in DCPC (call time 6:30).  There are only a limited number of scores available  to borrow from the College, so if you have a personal copy or can borrow one from your church, please do so. 5.  It is time to make sure  you have your  concert attire and black folder situations in hand.  If you do not have a personal black folder, you may borrow one form the College--I will be distributing them in November.  Regarding concert attire, here are the pertinent sections from the Handbook:

CONCERT ATTIRE MEN:  Standard tuxedo, tux shirt, black tie, black shoes and socks, either a black cummerbund or black vest, and cuff links and studs are required. If a singer already has a reasonably standard looking tux and accessories, no additional purchase is necessary. For those requiring a tuxedo, inexpensive tuxedos may be purchased at Tuxedowholesaler.com. From the main website, select Concert Attire, then men’s wear, then tuxedos, then the Tuxedo Package Notch Lapel. This site also can supply standard shirts, bow ties, cummerbunds, shoes, and studs and cufflinks.

CONCERT ATTIRE WOMEN: Women have the option of wearing either a black floorlength dress with at  least ¾ length sleeves, or full-length skirt or pants (NOT leggings) with a plain black top (long or ¾ sleeves). Black closed-toe shoes are required. An inexpensive concert dress that meets the requirements is available at the following website:

http://www.toteunlimited.com/store/product.php?productid=30485&page=1 (Princess Gown (#3713) Boat Neck with ¾ Sleeve from Tote Unlimited, Black Performance Knit)

It has been our experience that you may require a size that is larger than your normal dress size. Using the website’s size chart and your current measurements will help you avoid the need to exchange your order. The dresses are delivered un-hemmed, so please allow ample time for having the dress hemmed prior to a concert when ordering.

The annual Vespers service is Sunday, December 8th at 7:30 pm (preludes start at 7 pm) in DCPC. This is a lovely service, with music by the Chorale, and well worth your time. If you are so inclined, the Roadies could use your help at 1 pm that afternoon, setting up the risers, chairs , music stands, and pew candles. If you are interested, contact Bob Cameron at rcamero1@gmail.com . 7. No rehearsals from Dec 10th to the middle of January. We will resume rehearsals on January 14that 6:30 pm. There is a men’s basketball game that evening starting at 7 pm. The lots around the athletic building will be closed, and parking on the streets may be crowded. 3.
